This is a bonsai brush. These are handmade in Japan and are traditionally used for cleaning up the detritus on top of the soil. You have just done a re-potting, or a good bit of trimming and twigs and leaves are laying about on the surface of your pot. They need to be cleaned up and this is the tool for this task. No tool kit complete without one of these nifty brushes.
